Program Information:

There’s no better place to gain work experience than in Wellington, New Zealand, a cozy city often considered a miniature San Francisco. Intern in New Zealand lets you gain practical, global skills while immersing yourself in the Kiwis’ friendly country, considered the third most free economy in the world. We’ll tailor your internship to meet your goals, placing you with an individual, organization, or company that introduces you to a new workplace and profession. Wellington is a high-spirited, nature-loving, music-adoring city, and you’ll make fast friends and lifelong memories as you embark on adventures in the greater Wellington region.

Here are some things to expect while on this unique program:
  • Diverse, custom internship placements
  • Cosmopolitan city with a robust cultural scene
  • International work experience with people from all over the world
  • Custom housing options in the heart of the city
  • Abundant travel options with short, inexpensive flights to Asia, Oceania, and Australia
  • Comprehensive orientation and on-site support
Location:
Wellington is a compact, walkable city likened to San Francisco. Situated on the southern tip of the North Island, Wellington is the political, business, and cultural capital of New Zealand. You'll join nearly 500,000 other people who live in Wellington, but the city truly feels like a close-knit community.

Kiwis in Wellington are enthusiastic about living a good life, and they want to celebrate with great music, delicious food, and exciting film, culture, and art festivals. You'll find more restaurants and cafés per capita than New York City! Spend a day at Te Papa national museum of New Zealand or ride the cable car up to the space observatory or botanical gardens. Additionally, you can feel like you've traveled back in time at the Zealandia wildlife sanctuary. "Windy Wellington" has all the sophistication and modernity of a major city, but still has the charm, safety, cleanliness, and friendliness of a small town. It’s no wonder Wellington was recently ranked 12th in the world for best quality of living!

You'll be in awe of Wellington's natural beauty. The city is known for its picturesque harbor views and rolling green mountain sides. The harbor’s three islands offer an abundance of bush walks and reserves so you can get a break from the city. Jump on a tour bus to explore the volcanic, desolate Tongariro National Park. Or travel farther north so you can sunbathe on the sub-tropical beaches of Northland, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and Auckland. If you feel really adventurous, hop on the ferry and set sail for New Zealand's magnificent South Island. Wellington's airport can quickly connect you to the rest of the country, to Australia, and beyond!
